Kansas City police on Wednesday are investigating a possible homicide after city workers found a woman’s body near 33rd Terrace and Oakley Avenue.

The workers were cleaning up debris in the desolate area, which is surrounded by woods, when they discovered the body about 12:25 p.m. behind a vacant house. The house is the only structure at the intersection. The area is apparently used as an illegal dumping ground. A Google Map search reveals piles of abandoned trash and tires at the intersection and to the east.

Homicide detectives were at the scene investigating. They weren’t sure how long the body had been there.
