Driver dies after being pinned between two semis at Independence warehouse

A 63-year-old truck driver died Tuesday after he was pinned between two-tractor trailers at a warehouse in Independence, police said.

The incident occurred at 12:35 p.m. at the CDC Distribution Center in the 16500 block of East Truman Road. The victim was a resident of Ontario, Canada. His name is being withheld until relatives are notified.

According to initial reports, witnesses said the victim had gotten out of one vehicle when it slowly began to roll backward toward another tractor-trailer. The victim tried to physically stop the vehicle but was pinned between the two trucks.

He was rushed to a hospital but later died. The accident remains under investigation, police said.
