Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon announced Wednesday that he had promoted a Jackson County deputy probate commissioner to the circuit court bench.
S. Margene Burnett replaces Division 7 Circuit Judge Ann Mesle, who retired recently. Burnett has been a probate judge for 10 years, presiding over cases dealing with estates, mental health commitments, guardianships and conservatorships.
Burnett received her undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia and her law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Prior to taking the bench she worked in private practice in Kansas City from 1987 to 2003.
