With injuries cropping up in the offensive line, the Chiefs on Wednesday re-signed offensive lineman Chandler Burden to the practice squad and released fullback Toben Opurum.

Starting right tackle Eric Fisher (shoulder) was not expected to practice and guard Jon Asamoah (calf) was expected to be limited at best, so the club needed an extra lineman to help prepare for Sunday’s game against San Diego.

Burden, 6 feet 4 and 310 pounds, spent six weeks on the practice squad this season before he was released Nov. 12. Burden originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Kentucky by the Tennessee Titans and was released prior to the 2012 season. He spent last season on Miami’s practice squad and was released by the Dolphins last August.

Opurum, who played at Kansas, has spent all season on the Chiefs practice squad after signing as an undrafted free agent this year.
