People will get the chance on Friday to see what it’s like to fly with the Kansas City Police Department’s helicopter unit.
The police department will have a virtual “ride-along” Friday afternoon as a department public relations specialist tweets from a helicopter.
Police use the monthly tweet-alongs to demonstrate what officers do on the average shift.
They decided to do this month’s tweet-along from inside a helicopter after receiving questions on social media about their use.
The virtual ride-along will run from 3 to 7 p.m. on Twitter. Follow @kcpolice or go towww.twitter.com/kcpolice
to tag along.
The police department has three helicopters bought last year with money from the Public Safety Sales Tax, drug forfeitures and a federal grant.
