A man burned in a Monday afternoon apartment fire has died of his injuries, according to the Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department.
Officials said that 45-year-old Darrin Walker died Thursday after sustaining second and third-degree burns Monday in the fire in the 4100 block of Mission Road.
Arriving fire crews found Walker lying near the front door of the 12-unit building. They reported flames coming from a second-floor window. All other occupants escaped the building before firefighters arrived.
Damage to the building was estimated at about $180,000. The fire department has not released a cause of the fire.
