An Archbishop O’Hara High School teacher was fired and any association with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph terminated after a “suspicious photographic file” was found on the teacher’s computer this week.
The Kansas City school does not have any reason to believe the file involved O’Hara students, Principal John O’Connor said in a letter to parents.
O’Connor said that he became aware of the suspicious file Monday and that police came to the school Tuesday. Police reviewed the computer and removed it from the school. The investigation is continuing, police said, and no charges have been filed.
“This is a great sorrow to me as I know it is to you,” the principal wrote to parents. “I know your first concern must be the safety of your children at O’Hara.”
The school encouraged anyone who may have information of inappropriate behavior by the teacher or anyone else to call the Missouri Child Abuse Hotline at 800-392-3738.
