Chris Molendorp is the new executive director of ConnectCASS, a nonprofit organization that addresses the health needs of Cass County residents.

Molendorp announced recently that he will not seek re-election next year to his Missouri House seat, which he won in 2008. He will serve out his term in 2014 while working with ConnectCASS.

Molendorp has served for the past 17 years as president of a family-owned insurance agency. He was elected to the Missouri House in 2008.

“While Cass County has grown tremendously in recent decades and has benefitted from expanded economic development, the data on the health and well-being of our residents clearly shows that we need a focus on health care and overall wellness,” Molendorp said in a news release “ConnectCASS is uniquely positioned to leverage resources and partnerships that will help us address critical health and health access issues more effectively and in new ways.”

Among the health issues needing attention are obesity, rural poverty, lack of transportation to health services and lack of primary care and dental care providers.
