Kansas City police cited a man with child endangerment after he allegedly bolted from his home holding his two young sons and dropped the boys near a creek to distract officers.
Police working for the city’s No Violence Alliance went to the 25-year-old man’s house in the 9500 block of Charlotte Street just before noon Sunday to arrest him on outstanding warrants. The man allegedly ran out the back door, holding his sons, ages 2 and 4, and into a wooded area. He abandoned the kids near a creek to avoid arrest, police said.
Officers tended to the children, who showed no visible injuries, surrounded the woods and sent in a police dog. The dog found the suspect and bit him on the leg and foot.
Officers wrote Delshawn M. Tolan two city tickets for child endangerment. He was booked into jail on a pending charge for burglary, a warrant for burglary and five city bench warrants.
