A Kansas federal judge sentenced a 56-year-old Parkville tennis coach to 78 months in prison Monday for soliciting sexually explicit photos from a minor girl he coached.

Rex Haultain, a self-employed coach and New Zealand citizen, pleaded guilty in July, admitting that he told a minor student that she sexually aroused him.

In the fall of 2010, after he already had shown her an intimate photo of himself, Haultain asked the girl to send him naked pictures. Eventually, he sexually molested her, according to prosecutors.

The Kansas U.S. Attorney’s Office reported that the victim, now 18, read a statement to the judge, saying, in part: “Not a day goes by that I don’t think about what happened to me. I believe that will be the case for a long time, and maybe even for the rest of my life.”
