Police say a 63-year-old man accused of shooting two people at a north St. Louis County bar has died from a heart attack after he was disarmed and assaulted by other patrons.
The shooting occurred late Friday night inside the Pirates Cove bar in Florissant. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Florissant resident Edward J. Mueller died from cardiac arrest after he was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The condition of the two wounded men was not immediately known.
Police say an unidentified man who assaulted Mueller after he was disarmed was taken into custody and can expect charges to be filed against him. Mueller's cause of death was classified as a homicide after an autopsy.
