A former Raytown police officer was charged Friday with stealing drugs and jewelry from the department’s evidence room.
Jackson County prosecutors charged Justin M. Pool, 35, with three counts of stealing a controlled substance and two counts of theft of property. All five charges are felonies.
He allegedly stole the items, including oxycodone pills and gold jewelry, in January, when still a member of the department, according to prosecutors.
The Missouri Highway Patrol investigated the case after a request by the Raytown Police Department. Police said they did not believe the loss of evidence would effect any open criminal cases.
