A Lee’s Summit lawyer has been arraigned in the 2010 killings of her father and his girlfriend in mid-Missouri.

Susan “Liz” Van Note, who is free on bond, pleaded not guilty to the charges at her arraignment Friday in Camden County Circuit Court.

She is charged with two counts of second-degree murder and forgery in connection with the October 2010 shooting and stabbing of 67-year-old William Van Note and his girlfriend, Sharon Dickson, 59. They were assaulted in the their vacation home at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Dickson died at the scene, and William Van Note was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Prosecutors allege that Susan Van Note forged durable power of attorney documents that led doctors to remove her father from life support.

No trial date has been set.
