Missouri governor halts execution of Allen Nicklasson

He would have been the first person ever executed in the U.S. with a lethal dose of propofol. Missouri’s plan to use propofol drew warnings from its European manufacturer and American doctors that it could trigger a nationwide shortage of the drug, which is administered about 50 million times each year in the U.S. for procedures ranging from tonsillectomies to heart surgery.
