Teenage boy is charged in fatal KCK wreck

Jummon Rahaman, 14, was charged in the juvenile division of Wyandotte County District Court with felony theft. The vehicle he is accused of stealing was involved in a crash that killed Casey Knight, also 14, and critically injured another girl.

Wyandotte County prosecutors have charged a 14-year-old boy in the alleged theft of a vehicle involved in a fatal traffic crash this week.

The crash Monday in the 1200 block of Dodson Street in Kansas City, Kan., killed Casey Knight, also 14, and critically injured another girl.

Jummon Rahaman was charged Wednesday in the juvenile division of Wyandotte County District Court with felony theft. The vehicle was reported stolen in De Soto.

Prosecutors said Thursday that other issues involving the wreck remained under investigation.

Rahaman already was facing a car theft case in Johnson County and was supposed to be under house arrest at the time of the crash, according to Johnson County District Court records. He was charged in that case with stealing a car July 12, possessing a firearm and obstructing police.

Court records show that he was placed under house arrest on Aug. 22.
