One killed, three wounded in shootout on KC’s East Side

One person was killed and three others were wounded in a shootout late Friday that spanned several blocks on Kansas City’s East Side.

A female was pronounced dead at a hospital. The three others were reported to have serious injuries.

Officers received a call shortly before 10 p.m. of a shooting in the 2800 block of Bales Avenue. En route, the officers observed a vehicle involved in an accident at 27th Street and Indiana. They approached the car and found a man and woman both suffering gunshot wounds.

Another victim was found at the original dispatched address. The fourth had been dropped off at a hospital.

According to police, evidence indicates occupants of two vehicles exchanged gunfire in the 2800 block of Bales. One vehicle fled the scene and became involved in the accident.
