An adult and a small child were seriously wounded in a shooting Monday night in Kansas City.
The shooting occurred about 8:40 p.m. in the 3900 block of Bellefontaine Avenue. The victims, a 10-month-old girl and a 21-year-old man, went to Children’s Mercy Hospital by private vehicle before police arrived on the scene.
The baby was in critical condition and the adult was described as stable.
Initial reports indicated that the girl was in a car that was shot at by the occupant of another car.
At least two houses in that block were reportedly hit by gunfire. Shell casings also were found in the street around the corner from where the shootings occurred.
About the same time of that incident, someone reported being shot at from a car in the 3700 block of Bellefontaine.
