An 86-year-old man and his 80-year-old wife were killed Thursday afternoon when their vehicle was struck by another car that ran a stop sign, Overland Park police said.

The names of the victims were not immediately released.

The accident occurred at 3:38 p.m. at 79th Street and Mastin Drive. Police said a vehicle southbound on Mastin ran into the victim’s vehicle, which was eastbound on 79th.

Police said the driver of the first car, a 19-year-old man, admitted he ran the stop sign. That driver was not injured. A passenger in his car had minor injuries.
