A central Missouri sheriff is facing harassment and stalking charges for incidents that allegedly occurred between last October and June.
The Jefferson City News Tribune reports Osage County Sheriff Michael Dixon is charged with a felony for tampering with a motor vehicle and misdemeanors for sexual misconduct, third-degree assault, harassment and stalking.
Dixon did not respond to a call seeking comment Thursday. Online court records do not indicate that he has an attorney.
Dixon became sheriff in January. This summer, he served on a state House special investigatory committee examining Missouri's driver's license procedures.
Osage County is a rural county east of Jefferson City.
