Cerner Corp. and Children’s National Health System on Wednesday said they’ve joined forces to create The Bear Institute, a pediatric health informatics institute.

The institute will focus on electronic health records associated with pediatric care and aim to “accelerate the development of fully integrated electronic health records” that can be accessed by health care providers, researchers and patient families.

Cerner, based in North Kansas City, and Children’s National, based in Washington, D.C., reached a seven-year agreement to launch the institute.
