Welcome to 816, The Star’s new local edition for Jackson and Cass counties. As you can see, it is different both inside and out.
We are eager to embark on this journey with you as The Star enhances its coverage of the communities you care about. Each week, we will bring you a cover story that takes a longer look at a newsworthy issue, institution or individual in our coverage area. Today, you’ll find a story about the housing market that may surprise you. Writer Jonathan Bender excels at finding the right people and statistics to tell complicated stories in an engaging way, and he did just that today.
In this and the coming weeks, you also will find enhanced coverage of business, government, education and sports, as well as opinion and something to entertain you. We hope you like what you see, but we want your feedback. Tell us what you would like more of. And if there’s something you could do without, tell us that, too.
816 is a dynamic enterprise that values your input — and your story ideas. Do you know of an individual who makes a unique contribution to the community? Is there an issue brewing that hasn’t made the city council or school board agenda? Let us know.
Write me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call me at 816-234-4732. I look forward to hearing from you.
