Google is experiencing a service disruption with Gmail and Google Docs.

"The delivery of some messages is being delayed and attachments may fail to download," Google said on its Gmail status dashboard. Google reported that the problems affected "less than 50 percent" of Gmail users.

The troubles also hit Google Docs and Google Presentations.

The company did not elaborate on the problems with those features, except to say there was an "issue."

The message on Google's apps dashboard: "Our team is continuing to investigate this issue. We will provide an update by 9/23/13 2:05 PM with more information about this problem. Thank you for your patience. The email delays are affecting less than 50% of Gmail users."
