KC connection unconfirmed as Kenya presses attack against mall terrorists

Seeking to end a siege that has left scores dead, the Kenyan government said Sunday night that it was pressing an assault against al-Shabab militant attackers who had been holed up in a Nairobi shopping mall for more than a day. A Twitter site claimed that a Kansas City man was among the attackers, but that was not confirmed Sunday.

Sources within the terror group Al-Shabaab say one of the attackers at the Westgate Mall in Nairobi, Kenya, is from Kansas City.

CNN, a reporter for a Kenyan newspaper and a Kenyan blog all were reporting the link of a 27-year-old Kansas City man to the attack.

Two other Americans from Minnesota were among nine people listed on a since-shuttered Twitter account, the sources said. Other names include two individuals from Somalia and one each from Canada, Finland, Kenya and the United Kingdom, according to the list. They range in age from 20 to 27 years old.
