Crews were expected to work through Saturday night to repair a gas line rupture that sparked a large fire Friday night in Overland Park.
Officials asked motorists to be patient and use caution in the area of 151st Street and Switzer Road, where crews are working. They hoped to finish repairs by Sunday morning.
Utility workers were digging in the area about 8 p.m. Friday when a 4-inch gas line was struck and caught fire. Flames shot high enough to damage street lights and power to several thousand people was knocked out. No one was injured.
