Spring Venture Group owes Kansas $2,313 for picking up stakes in Leawood and moving its headquarters to Missouri.
To soften the blow, however, Missouri is offering the fast-growing senior life and health insurance exchange firm $4.2 million in incentives to bring its offices and 105 jobs to Crown Center and Kansas City. The company expects to grow to 500 employees within three years.
Earlier this week, Spring Venture Group announced it was moving its headquarters from 8700 State Line Road and would occupy a floor in an eight-story building in Crown Center at 2301 McGee St. Information about the incentives involved in the cross-border shift was not immediately available.
A spokesman for the Kansas Department of Commerce said Thursday that Spring Venture Group was authorized up to $1.8 million in incentives to encourage additional job growth two years ago. The firm had received just $2,313 so far and will be required to repay that amount.
Missouri Department of Economic Development officials said Spring Venture’s move across the state line was assisted by a $4.2 million incentive package.
