Independence authorities have identified the 76-year-old woman killed in a car accident Tuesday as Socorro T. Vanzandt.

The crash occurred at Aberdeen Street and Noland Road.

According to reports, a southbound 2002 Chrysler Sebring was turning left onto a private drive just after 10 a.m. and was struck by a 2006 Dodge Durango that was northbound on Noland.

The victim, an Independence resident who was riding in the Chrysler, died at a hospital. Both drivers received minor injuries.
