Former Missouri Congressman Alan Wheat has joined the Polsinelli law firm as chairman of its national public policy practice.

Wheat, who was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982 and served for 12 years, will be based in Washington. He will begin on Nov. 1.

Since 1997, Wheat has led Wheat Government Relations in Washington.

Kansas City-based Polsinelli also said it has hired two of Wheat’s colleagues. Julie Shroyer has joined the firm as a senior policy advisor. She previously worked at Wheat’s firm as senior vice president and chief operating officer. In addition, Rachel Stevenson was named a legislative director.

Polsinelli said Wheat and Shroyer will also become members of the firm’s health care practice.
