A look at the good, the bad and the ugly from Sunday’s 17-16 win over Cowboys.Do tell the truth
Why did it take three quarters for Andy Reid to run the ball?
Ten of Charles’ 16 carries came in the fourth quarter, when the Chiefs needed to run some time off the clock. The impressive thing is they managed to do it when Dallas knew they would run the ball. So if they could do it then, when not do it in the first half? My best guess: Reid is a pass-happy coach. However, it’s important to remember coaches are privy to information about team strengths and tendencies that fans and media aren’t.
How was the crowd at Arrowhead?
Pretty good. The Chiefs have had better crowds, of course, but for a season opener and all the team’s recent struggles, it was a solid effort by a fanbase eager to return to the Arrowhead glory days.
How concerned should you be about Dez Bryant’s big day against Brandon Flowers?
Not terribly, unless the Chiefs routinely plan on using The Bryant Plan against the best the NFL has to offer. Flowers is a fine cornerback, but with today’s rules, it’s asking a lot to repeatedly ask one guy to check an elite receiver.
How many sacks can Dontari Poe finish with this season?
Sack totals often fluctuate wildly for defensive lineman, largely because it’s simply a combination of talent, opportunity and luck. But Poe already has 3 1/2 and looks like the real deal, for now, I’d set the over-under at 7.5.
What did you think of the all-red look?
I’m a traditionalist, but I dig it. Just don’t go out there and add black to the unis like several teams have over the last 10 years. The Chiefs have classic uniforms and should never change, but the all red works just fine.
11 The number of catches Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles has racked up this season. He is on pace to finish the season with 88, which would be 53 more than he had last season.
