‘Doonesbury’ hiatus extended as Gary Trudeau works on his Amazon TV series

“Doonesbury” cartoonist Garry Trudeau has been on sabbatical this summer as he readies his Washington, D.C.-based TV series, “Alpha House,” one of the inaugural projects for Amazon Studios. In reruns since June, the the comic strip’s daily version return originally set for Labor Day has been pushed back to November.
