Olathe man found dead in burning car identified

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said there was no criminal activity involved in the death of Olathe resident Jerome Stonebraker.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday that an Olathe man found dead early Sunday inside a burning car was not the victim of foul play.

Authorities did not release the cause of death for 61-year-old Jerome Stonebraker but said there was no criminal activity involved.

His body was discovered about 5:30 a.m. Sunday after deputies and firefighters were called to the scene of a car on fire at 183rd Street and Clare Road in rural Johnson County.
