The Miami County Sheriff's Office said Sunday it is still hunting for whomever shot a motorist Saturday as the driver's car was heading south on Interstate 35.

The shooting occurred Saturday evening, shortly before 8 p.m. Authorities feared a shooter was taking potshots and targeting motorists from a nearby cornfield prompting a manhunt and shutdown of the highway for several miles.

Franklin County EMS transported one patient Saturday to Overland Park Regional Medical Center with a lower-leg wound. Officers focused on the area between 215th and 223rd streets and Edgerton and Pressonville roads.
