It’s been a bad week for Hollywood marriages.
First, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones announced their separation.
Now comes news that Clint Eastwood, 83, and his wife, Dina, have gone their separate ways, too, after 17 years of marriage.
Dina Eastwood, 48, confirmed the split to Us Weekly, telling the entertainment magazine that though they are close, she and Eastwood have been living separately for a while now.
A source tells the magazine that the Eastwoods amicably split up in June 2012.
That was just two months before Eastwood’s now-famous conversation with an empty chair on stage at the Republican National Convention.
They have one daughter together. Eastwood has seven other children.
Us Weekly contacted Eastwood’s manager, who said only, “I know nothing about that.”
Publicists for Douglas, 68, and Zeta-Jones, 43, were just as terse in announcing their clients’ split after almost 13 years of marriage.
"Catherine and Michael are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage. There will be no further comment,” they said today in a joint statement to USA Today.
