KC police investigate hit-and-run, possible carjacking attempt

Kansas City police are working to unravel a confusing situation that left two people with serious injuries.

Two pedestrians struck by a car in central Kansas City Monday afternoon may have been trying to carjack the vehicle before they were struck, police said.

Kansas City police detectives were investigating the situation that began at Linwood Boulevard and Indiana Avenue a little after 4 p.m. with a report of a hit-and-run incident involving a pedestrian.

When they arrived, police discovered that two people had been struck and seriously injured. A short time later, occupants of the car involved in that incident called police from near Linwood and Van Brunt boulevards to report that the incident on Indiana had been a carjacking attempt.
