Two men have been arrested in the July 27 mugging of a star Shawnee Mission West High School football player at a Topeka gas station, authorities there said Wednesday.

Daniel Wahquahboshkuk, 26, and Martin Rodriguez, 23, both of Topeka were arrested Tuesday evening and booked on charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated battery and aggravated assault.

While returning with his family after playing at the Kansas Shrine Bowl, Brett Sterbach fought off an attack by two men during a stop for snacks. Brett suffered a stab wound to his right thigh during the fracas, but wrested away a knife and stabbed both suspects before chasing both away.
