Apple is expected to unveil its latest generation of the iPhone on Sept. 10, according to technology blog AllthingsD.

The company has not commented Monday, but the blog cited unnamed sources who said Apple’s next smart phone will make its debut at a Sept.10 special event. The timing would allow the new phone to hit shelves before the holiday shopping season.

Reuters reported recently that Apple was exploring launching iPhones with bigger screens, as well as cheaper models in a range of colors over the next year.

Separately, several media outlets reported Monday that Samsung will introduce its next-generation Galaxy Note on Sept. 4. CNN said that the Samsung phone will be unveiled in Berlin two days before the opening of a major technology conference.
