Prisoner in white boxer shorts escapes from jail in Kingston, Mo.

Law enforcement agencies in northeast and central Missouri were on the lookout Sunday for an inmate accused of rape who escaped from the Caldwell County Detention Center.

Brian James Adkison, 23, fled barefoot and in white boxer shorts from the Kingston, Mo., facility shortly before midnight, the Missouri Highway Patrol said.

Authorities described the escapee as a white male, 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Adkison has been known to frequent the Columbia area and is considered by police to be dangerous.

He was being held on several Caldwell and Boone County charges, including kidnapping and terrorizing an former girlfriend and first-degree burglary.
