A Leawood woman has been charged with stealing about $30,000 from the parent teacher organization of an Overland Park school.

Sandra C. Huddleston, 40, appeared in Johnson County District Court Thursday on the charge of felony theft of more than $25,000. She was released from custody after posting bond.

The money from the PTO at Valley Park Elementary School, 12301 Lamar Ave., was reported missing in May.

Huddleston, the group’s former treasurer, was charged Wednesday. Court documents allege that the theft occurred between July 2012 and early May of this year.

Her next court appearance is scheduled for August 16.
