Four young men broke into a 74-year-old woman’s house early Thursday in the 2200 block of E. 69th Street and stole her television and credit cards.
Police gave this account:
The victim was asleep about 1:50 a.m. when she heard noises at her back door. She got out of bed to see what was going on and was confronted by the intruders, one of whom pointed a gun at her and told her to lie on the floor. They threw a piece of clothing over her face so she could not see them, then asked where her cash and guns were.
She told them she didn’t have any cash or guns and one of the intruders said, “We can’t leave here empty-handed.” They ransacked her home and took the television and the victim’s wallet.
The woman was not hurt. After the robbers left, she called 911.
Officers found her back door had been damaged.
Police did not have a detailed description of the robbers.
