KC checkpoint nets 12 DUI arrests

Twelve motorists were arrested for driving under the influence at an overnight sobriety checkpoint in Kansas City, police said Saturday.
Kansas City police and Jackson County sheriff’s deputies stopped a total of 571 vehicles during the five-hour operation late Friday and early Saturday in the 3700 block of Independence Avenue.
The checkpoint also netted one charge of a minor in possession of alcohol and one possession of marijuana charge.
Three motorists were cited for driving with a suspended or revoked license. There were also three hazardous moving citations and 10 citations for other traffic-related violations, police said.
Three Kansas City arrest warrants were also served.
