The Chiefs were better than they were in Thursday’s sloppy practice. Passing drills began with a series of plays from inside the 20-yard line and the Chiefs scored their share of touchdowns. Jamaal Charles got the scoring started when he lined up in the slot and ran a corner route to catch a touchdown pass from Alex Smith.
Chase Daniel had one of his better days in camp. His first two passes in the drill went to Donnie Avery, who first took a short crossing route for a sizable gain and then beat Neiko Thorpe on a corner route for a touchdown.
Daniel made perhaps his best throw of the day a few plays later when Travis Kelce hauled in his fade pass in the right back corner of the end zone.
Most of the quarterback snaps normally go to Smith and Daniel, but they received more of the work than usual. That left fewer than normal snaps for the other quarterbacks, Tyler Bray and Ricky Stanzi.Defense
Rookie linebacker Darin Drakeford came up with a nifty interception of a pass from Bray when he took the ball away from tight end Demetrius Harris.
Defensive end Austen Lane had an interesting pair of pass rushes against rookie offensive tackle Eric Fisher. He caught Fisher off balance and knocked the rookie to the ground on his first rush. Fisher fought his way to a draw on the next snap.
Eric Berry and Dunta Robinson each broke up a pass. Better plays were made by Derrick Johnson and Brandon Flowers. Each was able on separate plays to knock the ball from the grasp of Jon Baldwin, who appeared to have made the catch in each instance.Injury report
