Updated: Early morning crash kills motorcyclist in Olathe

A motorcyclist died early Wednesday after crashing in northern Olathe. The wreck occurred about 4:05 a.m. near Northgate and South Nelson roads. Authorities closed Northgate for a couple of hours while they investigated the crash. All roads have reopened. Initial reports indicate that a man in his 40s was headed north on Northgate when he lost control of his motorcycle. The motorcycle left the road near Nelson road and crash in the median. The man was unresponsive when police arrived. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He died from injuries he suffered in the wreck. The man’s name was being withheld pending notification of relatives. The Olathe Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit continues to investigate the crash. Anyone with information about the fatal wreck is asked to call Olathe police at 913-971-7500 or 913-971-6950.
