After being postponed by rain, a bridge project requiring the overnight closure of southbound Interstate 35 in downtown Kansas City will take place Tuesday night.
All lanes of southbound I-35 will be closed from 9 p.m. Tuesday until 5 a.m. Wednesday between Interstate 70 and 13th Street on the city’s west side of the downtown loop.
All lanes should reopen in time for the Wednesday morning’s rush hour.
The closure will allow workers to move bridge girders into place for the new 12th Street bridge.
The bridge and ramps are expected to be completed by Sept. 10.
The project is part of the ongoing Downtown Bridge projects
that is rehabilitating more than a dozen bridges in and around the Downtown Loop.
