The start of training camp is a time for optimism, and veteran cornerback Dunta Robinson gave voice to that Thursday when, on the eve of the Chiefs’ first full-squad practice, he predicted the Chiefs would make the playoffs.
“We’re going to be way better,’’ said Robinson, who joined the Chiefs this year as a free agent. “We’re going to be a playoff team. Andy’s brought that winning mentality to this football team, so we plan to win.’’
The Chiefs won only two games last season. But the hiring of new coach Andy Reid and the trade for quarterback Alex Smith have given Robinson the belief the Chiefs can make a quick turnaround.
“We think we have a pretty good football team,’’ Robinson said. “We’ve got to start preparing. We’re healthy and hopefully we’ll stay that way. If we do, we’ll make a lot of noise.’’
