Man in custody in connection with Blue Summit homicide

Investigators took one man into custody Tuesday night for questioning in connection with an apparent murder in a house in Blue Summit.
The man, described as a person of interest, was found in a wooded area a few blocks away in an unincorporated area of Jackson County between Independence and Kansas City.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department was called to a house in the 1800 block of Tilden Street about 4:30 p.m. and discovered the body of an elderly man. Sgt. Ronda Montgomery said there were obvious signs of trauma in the house.
The person of interest was arrested about 9 p.m. near 22nd Street and Television Place.
Investigators obtained a warrant to search the house. Kansas City police crime scene investigators will assist in the investigation.
The name of the victim was not immediately released.
