Kansas City police are looking for two men who shot a skateboarder in a failed robbery in Midtown early Tuesday.

The 19-year-old victim told police he was skateboarding in a parking lot at 38th and Washington streets about 12:50 a.m. when a silver car pulled up and a passenger stepped out with a handgun and demanded his backpack.

The victim said he started to remove his backpack, but changed his mind and tried to skate away. The robber then shot at him, hitting him in the buttock.

The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening. The victim declined to show his backpack to police.
