Rescue crews recovered a body from the Kansas River on Monday afternoon.
Craig Duke, Kansas City, Kan. Fire Department deputy chief, declined to say whether the body appeared to be the man who had disappeared while swimming in the river early Saturday evening.
Searchers from several area agencies looked for the man who last had been seen by friends at about 7 p.m. swimming near the southbound Interstate 435 bridge at Woodend Road. They suspended their search at about 10 p.m. Saturday before resuming their efforts Sunday without success.
