The concert scene in September just got a little more trippy.

Psychedelic rock band MGMT is headed here September 7, a Saturday, for a concert at Crossroads KC.

The concert, which is presented by Ink magazine, comes in anticipation of the band’s self-titled third studio album. “MGMT” will be released Sept. 17. The band gained notice when two singles off the band’s first album, “Oracular Spectacular,” became radio hits:

“Kids” and “Electric Feel.”

The group was nominated for the Best New Artist award at the 2010 Grammy Awards.

MGMT last performed in Kansas City at the Uptown Theater in 2010 and had been scheduled to perform at this year’s Kanrocksas before it was canceled.

Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. General admission tickets are $33.50.
