Man charged with killing sister in Kansas City, Kan.

A Kansas City, Kan., man has been charged in the weekend killing of his sister.
Wyandotte County prosecutors charged 44-year-old Vernon L. Travis with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of Phyllis A. Travis. He was also charged with aggravated assault for allegedly threatening another relative with a knife.
Phyllis Travis, 45, was found dead Saturday morning after police were called to a residence in the 7100 block of Waverly Avenue. Her brother was found nearby and taken into custody a short time later.
Authorities have not released information about what may have prompted the incident. Vernon Travis is in the Wyandotte County Jail with bond set at $750,000.
