Police arrest 22 in DUI stop near airport

At an overnight checkpoint to nab drunk drivers, Kansas City police arrested 22 motorists for driving under the influence.
From 11 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Saturday — five hours— officers with assistance of Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers, stopped 838 vehicles traveling in the northbound lanes of 169 Highway near the Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport.
Police also recovered two guns and discovered a variety of other criminal, traffic and vehicular violations, including unlawful weapon possession, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, driving with a suspended license, minor in possession of alcohol, and violation of parole.
