Police on Tuesday identified the 25-year-old gunshot victim who died on a Northeast Kansas City house’s porch as Christopher Jones.

Neighbors in the 100 block of North Drury Avenue heard gunshots about 2 a.m., looked outside and saw Jones collapsing on a front porch. He had knocked on the door and awakened the people inside. They called police, who were already on their way to check out reports of gunfire. By the time they arrived, Jones had died.

People who lived on the street did not know Jones, but he was known to frequent the area, said homicide Sgt. Joe Mabin. Police were looking for any witnesses to the shooting.

Anyone with information should call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (474-8477).
